Everything else

The formula, the dose, and getting it to you

What is in atomera?

Three active ingredients in one plant-based capsule: 24 mg of elemental iron as ferrous bisglycinate chelate, 10 billion CFU of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v, and vitamin C. The shell is hypromellose. That is the whole formula — there is no proprietary blend and nothing held back.

How do I take it?

One capsule a day, with food. Most people take it with breakfast because that is the meal they never skip. It does not need to be taken on an empty stomach.

Why only 24 mg of iron?

Because 24 mg is the most an Australian listed medicine is permitted to contain in a daily dose. It also sits above the recommended dietary intake of 18 mg a day for women aged 19 to 50, and well below the upper level of 45 mg. If you need more than that, you need a doctor rather than a supplement.

Can I take it with tea or coffee?

You can, but it is worth knowing that tea and coffee contain polyphenols which reduce how much non-haem iron your body takes up — and that includes iron from a supplement. In the one human study that measured it directly, strong coffee and tea roughly halved the absorption of iron from ferrous bisglycinate. If you want to be careful, leave an hour between the capsule and a strong brew. We would rather tell you that than pretend the form of iron makes it immune.

Can I take it with my other supplements?

Iron competes with calcium and zinc for absorption, so leave about two hours between atomera and a calcium or zinc supplement. If you take prescription medicines, check with your doctor or pharmacist — iron interacts with a number of them, including some thyroid medicines and antibiotics.

Why Lactiplantibacillus plantarum 299v?

Because it is a named, single strain with published research behind it, rather than an unnamed ‘probiotic blend’. The research is mixed, and we set it out in full — including the findings that went against it — on our evidence page. We use 10 billion CFU because that is the dose used in most of the published trials on this strain.

What does ‘guaranteed to end of shelf life’ mean?

Live cultures die off over time, so a count measured on the day of manufacture is not the count in the bottle you open months later. Our 10 billion CFU is the figure guaranteed at the printed expiry date, stored as directed — not the figure at packing. Plenty of products quote the other one.

Is it vegan? What about allergens?

The capsule shell is plant-based hypromellose rather than gelatine, and the probiotic strain is grown on a dairy-free, non-animal medium. There are no gluten, dairy, nut or added-sugar ingredients. One honest caveat on soy: the growth medium for the culture can include soy-derived peptides depending on the production run, so check the label on your bottle. If you need the manufacturer's formal statement, email us and we will send it.

Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Ask your doctor or midwife first. Iron requirements change in pregnancy and the right amount is individual — that is not a decision to make from a website.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

No. The culture is freeze-dried and shelf-stable. Keep the bottle below 25°C and out of direct sunlight and it will hold its count to the printed expiry date.

Can I see the test results for my batch?

Yes. Every batch is tested by an independent accredited lab for heavy metals, microbial load and culture count. Email us the batch code from your bottle and we will send you the certificate of analysis for it.

How fast is shipping, and what does it cost?

Standard shipping is free Australia-wide on every order, with no minimum. Orders placed before 12:30pm AEST/AEDT leave our own warehouse in Rosebery, NSW the same day; anything after that goes out the next business day. Metro deliveries usually arrive in 1–2 business days and regional in 2–4.

Express is $10 and usually arrives in 1–2 business days to NSW, the ACT, Queensland and Victoria, and 3 business days to South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Can I return it?

Unopened bottles can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. If you have opened it and it is not working for you, email us — we would rather sort it out than argue about it. This sits on top of your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which we cannot and would not exclude.

Do you ship outside Australia?

Not yet. Join the mailing list and we will say so when that changes.
